      Michigan Wolverines x Legacy Collection

19nine’s Legacy Collection dives inside the archives to bring back some college basketball classics. Like the originals, we crafted each Legacy pair of retro shorts with the materials and details to honor the original designs. It was a labor of love in our pursuit to provide an era specific keepsake that celebrates the most iconic styles in college basketball history.

      '93 Wolverine Legacy

Michigan burst onto the scene with their five freshman starters and Final Four run in '92.  They entered the '93 season as the #1 team in country and a target squarely on their back.  The Fab Five were now a year older and anything less than another Final Four run would be a failure.

The Wolverines went 26-4 during the regular season and never fell lower than #7 in the polls.  They earned the #1 seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament where they avoided a massive upset by squeaking by #9 seed UCLA, 86-84, to make the Sweet 16.  Two more wins against George Washington and Temple put Michigan back in the Final Four and staring down a National Championship.

First up was fellow #1 seed Kentucky and Jamal Mashburn.  An overtime thriller ensued, with Michigan prevailing 81-78 and punching their ticket to their second straight National Championship game.

In one of the most memorable National Championship games of all time, Michigan fell to Dean Smith and North Carolina, 77-71.  While the Fab Five didn't win a title they left their mark as the most influential team in college basketball history during their two year run in Ann Arbor.

Fab Five Remixed

As a discerning ball short collector with the OGs from the Nineties these are up there. Had the Nike on-courts back in the day and these are a close second. Excellent work 19NINE! Quality is on point, wished I’d ordered an XL but stock was limited so I was stoked to even get a large (I’m 5’10” 175lbs) but you want em flowing and huge like Jalen rocked the look. OG Nike cuts have a thicker waistband and lower cut flatter block M and more robust dura sheen material. Problem is, nobody makes them like they used to do so props to 19NINE for the next best thing!
Customer service is next level, got my shorts in two days and I’m in Canada, eh. Great communication and shipping details. A+++
Love to see you guys do a home white UM Legacy short with the maize and blue trim.
Overall, an excellent short in this age of single ply poly with pockets that the masses try and pass off as an authentic on-court short. What happened?!
Keep the retro jams coming for us old heads that like em like they once were!

Excellent throwback

Man, these Michigan shorts are everything! The quality is superb and definitely took me back to my teenage days repping the maize colored shorts playing ball in Detroit. I showed a pic to my oldest nephew and he thought I had saved the original shorts from back in the day! Great work 19nine! Now I’m just hopeful that the blue/maize legacy shorts will be the next drop 😁.

The Real Thing!

Growing up in Michigan during the Fab Five's time in Ann Arbor was an amazing time to be alive! And we all clamoured for something that connected us to the squad we loved to watch. I still have a few pairs of shorts from that era, and these are a spot on recreation of the iconic shorts! From the long baggy fit, to the classic block M on the sides. These are my favorite pair of shorts. I wish I could have grabbed 2 pair. I can't wait for the blue pair to drop, I'll definitely be grabbing them too!
