  • Hardwood History

The Cinderella of all Cinderella's. The LSU Tigers entered the 1985-1986 season with high hopes and a Top 15 ranking.  After getting off to a great start LSU hit a snag coming down the home stretch losing 11 of its last 19 games.  Dale Brown's Tigers were lucky to even make it into the NCAA Tournament and even more lucky that their first two games would be played at the Assembly Center.

As the #11 seed in the Southeast Region LSU needed every bit of that home crowd push to sneak past Purdue in double overtime and Memphis by 2 a couple nights later on Anthony Wilson's last second bank shot.

Wilson's shot put the Cinderella Tigers in the Sweet 16 where they would first upset #2 seed Georgia Tech before beating in conference rival and #1 seed Kentucky, 61-58.  LSU was Final Four bound! Order these 1986 LSU Purple and Yellow Basketball Shorts and feel the magic!

"Never have I had a team that was so close-knit and (the players) loved each other. This was just a feel-good team to be around."

      -Dale Brown, Head Coach

Dunking Tiger is the GOAT

The Dunking Tiger needs to be on all LSU basketball apparel from now on.

One of my favorite Final 4 teams. I wear it all the time! Such a great idea to sell these retros to the public. Each has a story behind it.
