Led by freshman phenom Mark Aguirre and seniors Curtis Watkins and Gary Garland, the 1978-79 DePaul Blue Demons went 21-5 during the regular season. That was good enough to earn them a 2-seed in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament. Once there they knocked off Southern Cal, Marquette and UCLA to earn the schools first appearance in the Final Four since 1943.
