Coming into the season unranked and off college basketballs national radar, Al Skinner's Boston College team served notice after running off 11 wins in a row. Led by sophomore sensation Troy Bell, BC won the BIG EAST regular season and conference tournament championship and a #7 national ranking.
Boston College entered the NCAA Tournament as the #3 seed in the East Region. The Eagles beat #14 seed Southern Utah before falling to #6 seed USC in the Round of 32. Despite the early exit the 2001 team set a school record in wins with 27.
For his part, Bell remains a BC legend.
