The 2007-2008 Davidson Wildcats started the season 4-6 after playing 3 Top 10 ranked teams before entering conference play. The Wildcats, led by Steph Curry, then rattled off 22 straight wins to claim the Southern Conference regular season and conference tournament crowns. The fun was just beginning.
Entering the NCAA Tournament as the #10 seed in the Midwest Region, Davidson first took out #24 ranked Gonzaga, 82-76. Next up was 2 seed Georgetown where Curry and Jason Richards combined for 50 points to shock the Hoyas, 74-70, earning the schools first trip to the Sweet 16 since 1969.
Curry and Davidson weren't done yet, blowing out 3 seed Wisconsin, 73-56. Curry was sensational again with 33 points including 6 threes that put the Wildcats one win away from the Final Four. Unfortunately, it wasn't in the cards as the 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks ended the magical run by edging Davidson, 59-57.
Davidson's run through the tournament in 2008 remains one of the best Cinderella stories in the history of the NCAA Tournament thanks in large part to Steph Curry's individual performance.
