  • Hardwood History

It's hard to talk about the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers without first mentioning the 1975 team who lost in the regional semifinal to Kentucky without star player Scott May who sat out with a broken list.  That was the only loss for the '75 team and one that fueled the '76 teams pursuit of perfection the following year.

This time with healthy Scott May, Quinn Buckner, Tom Abernathy, Kent Benson and Bobby Wilkerson the Hoosiers marched through the regular season undefeated.  32-0.  Legendary coach Bob Knight and Indiana beat St. John’s, Alabama, Marquette, UCLA and Michigan in the tournament give Indiana University its 3rd National Championship.
