  • Hardwood History

Jerry Tarkanian is one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time.  From his start at Long Beach State to his glory days at UNLV and his curtain call at Fresno State, "Tark" did it his way.  He compiled an overall record of 729-201 over a 31 year span.

Coach Tarkanian led his UNLV teams to four Final Fours ('77, '87, '90, '91).

His Rebels dismantled Duke 103-73 in the 1990 National Championship.  Tarkanian had transformed UNLV from "Tumbleweed Tech" to the most exciting college basketball team of the era.

Tarkanian would return to his alma mater, Fresno State to coach from 1995-2002 where he led the Bulldogs to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

Tark's impact on college basketball and the city of Las Vegas cannot be understated, just by putting him on this UNLV graphic tee. The floor at the Thomas & Mack Center was renamed Jerry Tarkanian Court in 2005.  UNLV added a bronze statue in 2013 and the city of Las Vegas dimmed its lights on the strip after his passing in 2015.

Jerry Tarkanian was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013. Order this UNLV Rebels T-Shirt to honor this legend to the game.
