Lorenzo Romar's 2004-2005 Washington Huskies were coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance the year before but hungry for more. The Huskies returned all their key pieces including future NBA players Brandon Roy, Nate Robinson, Bobby Jones and Will Conroy along with 16 point per game scorer, Tre Simmons. With all that firepower UW entered the season ranked #22 in the AP Poll before running off 13 wins in their first 14 games.
Washington finished the regular season 24-5 before beating Arizona State, Stanford and #8 Arizona to claim the Pac-10 Conference Tournament title. The win over Arizona was enough to earn the #1 seed in the Albuquerque Region of the NCAA Tournament.
Two easy wins over Montana and Pacific put the Huskies in the Sweet 16 where they would lose to a hot shooting Louisville team, 93-79.
